I volunteered to make something for the potluck at work.

This is what I made:

To make the layers, you need to mix up the cake batter, separate it into different containers, then add the dye. The dye I got was from Michael’s and it was a 10pack of gel icing dye. It worked really well. Once you mixed the color with the batter, you would pour it in the middle of the pan gently.

A note, though – whatever color the bottom color is, you need extra of it because it gets pushed out to the sides and bottom and becomes nearly nonexistent.

Uh oh! This is what happens when you put three boxes of cake mix into one cake pan.

But it came out ok in the end!

So overall, it was delicious and a big hit.
